COURT SECURITY OFFICER

Court Security Officers provide security to the Champaign County Courthouse. The Sheriff’s Office has 13 court security officers, including a Sergeant. Oversight to Court Security is provided by a Lieutenant.


Court security officers are responsible for the safety and security of the Courthouse, its visitors, and its employees by monitoring individuals and property entering the Courthouse. Court security officers are also responsible for courtroom safety and security while court is in session.


SALARY & BENEFITS

  • Starting Salary - $48,131
    • $51,438 after 1 year
    • $55,432 after 5 years
  • Earned time off (vacation, personal leave, sick time)
  • Part of a Collective Bargaining Unit
  • Monday - Friday, dayshift schedule
  • Holidays off


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - ENTRY LEVEL

  • at least 21 years of age
  • high school graduate or equivalent
  • no felony or certain misdemeanor convictions
  • residency in Champaign County or adjacent counties (or willingness to relocate upon hire)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - LATERAL (EXPERIENCED)

  • at least 1 year of full time experience as a police officer or correctional officer
  • certification by ILETSB as a police officer or correctional officer (or ability to have minimum training waived)
  • no felony or certain misdemeanor convictions
  • residency in Champaign County or adjacent counties (or willingness to relocate upon hire)
